Don’t count out the oldies!

Board games

I recently sat down and played a few rounds of Taboo and a round of Monopoly with a few friends and realized how exciting and engaging these old, forgotten games are. With every household filling up with PS3s and Xboxes and Wiis no one takes a moment to play with these amazing games that brought families and friends together for years and years. We busted out my friend’s Monopoly from 1983 and were amazed how after all this time we can still enjoy and get into some nasty trash talks over this game. We’re all in our late 20s and I never thought we would get so into it with trash talk and all.

So, try them out!!!!!

I love movies!

1 Jan

I decided to take sometime and write a list of my favorite movies. I can’t think of all of them now, but I’ll put down as many as I remember and I’ll add updates as I remember them. Here’s the list in no particular order:

– The Note Book: Aww, I love this movie, every time i watch it I cry like a baby. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling are super hot in the movie. I always dream about having a relationship so deep that even if things don’t work out right away, somehow everything would turn out fine. I must say I don’t want to lose my memories of the greatest love of my life like she did, but all in all a great movie.

– Gone with the wind: Use to be one of my favorite movies and books. I watched that movie so much that I eventually ended up not being able to watch it for a very long time. How sad is that! I use to have the biggest crush on Clark Gable. So smug and full of himself, and Scarlett just annoyed the hell out of me, so stupid! I recommend this movie, since its such a classic thing and everyone should watch it!

– When Harry met Sally: I absolutely adore this movie, the idea of falling in love with your best friend has crossed almost everyone’s head at one point or another and this movie is the best way to show it. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are amazing on screen together. I can’t even count the number of times a guy friend and I had the type of discussion they had and we pretty much to the same conclusion as they did, a guy and a girl can’t just be friends, sex always changes everything! (I’m actually watching this right now for the 2nd time in row tonight! lol)

– Sliding doors: Another fantastic movie about the what if things had happened in a different way. I’m not a big fan of Gwyneth Paltrow, but she was good and John Hannah is an adorable character.

– Star Trek 2009: Lots of hot guys in my favorite sci-fi movie. I’m a big Trekkie fan and I pretty much have seen all the episodes of all Star Trek shows, all generations. When I watched the latest  Star Trek movie I experienced all the emotions a director/producer wants a movie goer to experience, scared, excited, sad, happy and giddy (My friend was not very happy when I cried in the theater after Kirk’s dad exploded along with his ship! lol) . It was a great come back for Star Trek and I have to buy the DVD for it!

– Love Actually: Very cute movie filled with lots of lovable British cast. One of my favorite parts is when Keira Knightley’s husband’s friend tells her how he feels about her. I loved the delivery! The movie starts off confusing with too many story lines goign on at the same time but it will all make sense at the end, just keep on watching.

– You’ve got mail: Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have a few movies together and I must say they are a winning team! The whole concept of falling in love over the internet was such a big thing and probably still is, but to be able to make it in a sweet un-creepy way was great. Even though if I was in Ryan’s shoes would have kicked Hank’s butt for playing with my mind for awhile, I would have totally had the same reaction when she found out that her mystery friend from the net is the same person who put her out of job and she had grown to love. What a wonderful world!

– I love you man: My mom and I have a big crush on Paul Rudd and we thing Jason Segel is a cute, awkward giant! The idea of finding friends after a certain age is pretty hard, most people find their friends either in the last years of high school or during the college /university years and as we get older finding friends gets harder and harder. So having to go along with these guys on their “man dates” is a total treat. The combination uptight Rudd and easy going Segel just totally makes the movie worth watching.

– Under the Tuscan sun:  This movie came out a few months after I returned from studying in Italy and I could not have been happier. I wish I could be able to drop my life here and go buy a half ruined villa in Tuscany and forget all about the crap that the modern city dwellers have to deal with.I love Diane Lane, she’s so pretty and amazing. I hope I look like her when i get to her age! ahahah

– Something’s gotta give: I liked this movie because it shows that even if people are old and single there’s still hope for finding love. I think the combination of the actors in this movie just make it even better. This is a total family movie that you can watch with people of all ages, even though there’s a little bit of sex goign on, it’s more funny than x rated.

Choosing a good nights sleep over sex??

8 Dec

According to the new sleep study the Westin hotel chains conducted, people choose to have a good nights sleep than having sex, except in Canada!!

The survey showed out of 10 countries, nine choose to sleep than have hot passionate sex. Funny part about the results are that most of the people who chose to sleep are men and not women. I can see this happening, the guys think they’re on vacation so they get to sleep a lot and bum around and the women think oh we are on vacation, a new place to have sex and spice up the relationship.

Another funny result was about how Canadians are the only people from the survey that still prefer a night of seductive love-making over sleep! That just warms my heart and makes me happy. imagine we’re living in one of the coldest countries and we’re still warm at heart and all gung-ho about jumping in the sack for some loving.

I call it the money pit!!!

18 Nov

My best friend is getting married and Im her maid of honor and just by tagging along with her for the past few months I’ve realized how big of a money pit/ bottomless pit planning a wedding. First is the engagement ceremony, then we have the showers, the parties and the wedding it self. All these parties cost ridiculous amounts of money. I totally feel bad for anyone who is planning a wedding. Everything you want to the smallest things you can think of is an extra cost!

We decided to cut some cost by making our own money-box. We managed to save some money with that idea about $30 which is not bad. But even buying a flat plain box costs us $20 which we later realized we could have got the same thing two doors down for $5 less. haha

Another thing that annoys me is the guest’s gifts idea . basically we’re telling people please come to our party that we spent thousands of dollars on and we even going to give you gifts. I understand it’s something nice to do in return for all the gifts you get but at the same time I feel bad when newly weds go in debt because of their weddings.

Some people even put themselves in a bigger hole by having multiple weddings, it’s absolutely alright to do that since most people nowadays are from different places and they end up having a wedding in their country of residence, another at the groom’s home country and one for the bride’s family. BIG money people…BIG MONEY! But I’m a big fan of destination weddings, my sister got married in 3 different countries, my friend is marrying in 3 countries too.

I guess by the time all these weddings are over, all they have to look forward to is their honeymoon which they can’t take right away since they spent all their money on their wedding(s). hahaha, its somewhat sad since honeymoons used to be such a big deal and actually a month-long, now if you get a week off you’re lucky!

I’m sorry, you don’t have the criteria….

Mr. Right

I haven't found Mr. Right but I found all the rest of them! lol

Everybody I know has a list in their head when it comes to their potential mates. It could be a physical need or personality or mixture of both them. Some people are more forgiven and flexible when it comes to their lists than others. Let’s say they’ll sacrifice the height requirements for bit more of a colorful personality, swapping 6 packs with a bit of belly and a fat wallet (uhem, Gold Digger!!! haha), you get the idea.I never actually consciously made a list, I’m more of a go with the flow girl but I have standards! hahah

I thought it would be maybe fun to make list to see if I can figure out what I like in a men. I dated enough of them, been in relationships and by now I should have an idea….

So, here it goes…

– Age – I have 5 yr age limit, I find it I get along with my generation better than the older ones.

– Some one who’s ambitious in their work life, but no workaholics.

– I’m not picky about the physical attributes, dated tall ones, short ones, fit ones and not so fit ones. I always said as long as they’re not smaller than me, we’re good to go! lol

– Interesting personality, I want to learn new things from him. I’m all about actually growing up and learning new things together.

– Creativity and being handy is very important, I’m always running around with new projects and I want a partner who can hold up their own when it comes to these types of things.

– World traveler, I was lucky enough to travel all around the world and experience new cultures and things and I want someone who enjoys taking off for a week to go city hopping.

– Family guy, good relation with his family. Well, within reason, I’ve heard in-laws could be in the way sometimes. haha

– He has to have his own friends and a life outside of a relationship, I find couples who just hangout with each other annoying and boring.

– This point is a little shallow maybe but I find it important, he MUST have a car!!! I drive myself everywhere and sometimes I enjoy being driven around. If you’re wondering, yes I like nice cars, no room for negotiation on this one! :S

– Last criteria is one of the most important ones in my list and it’s the dumbest one.lol, I can not stand hairy men! Sorry guys, chest hair, back hair make me a bit grossed out. 😦

Hmmm, I can’t think of other things…so far I’ve been lucky to stay true to this list but finding a healthy ratio of the above criteria is very tricky. I have to be honest though make this list was fun though because it made me think of all the good attributes of boyfriends past and what attracted me to them. So cheers guys for making my list and thanks for making it easier to find Mr. TdotRight! 🙂

p.s.: The list was made with the understanding that the following groups got no chance: drunks, druggies, criminals, psychos, bums and etc. Just wanted to put that out there..lol…
